Working with long term client J Street Hospitality, The Bower is set to debut Fall 2024. The four-story, 39-key boutique hotel consists of three levels of hotel rooms over a single level of common space and a level of below-grade, back-of-house.

Offering unobstructed views, the rooftop restaurant and bar and downstairs lobby lounge and cafe, offer a gathering space for both the local community and guests of The Bower.

The design is inspired by the property’s history as one of San Diego’s original Japanese Tea Gardens initially owned by John D. Spreckels.

A bower is a pleasant, shady space under trees or climbing plants in a garden or wood. Beautiful landscaping, arches and vines are integrated into the hotel’s design with the space set to exude a calming, essentials-driven aesthetic inspired by the Japanese concept of wabi sabi – appreciating beauty in imperfection.

The original Villa Capri is honored at The Bower by incorporating the original Historic Neon Signage throughout the property as an homage to the property’s place within the historic fabric of Coronado.
